The Scholarship Funding

The scholarships are funded by Blyth Academy and the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust. Sam Blyth was educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge and The University of Paris and is Chair of Blyth Education in Toronto. The company is the leading provider in Canada of international high school programs.

 

The Cambridge Commonwealth Trust was established as a charity by the University of Cambridge in 1982 to provide funding to international students from Commonwealth countries on degree courses at Cambridge.

About the Scholarships

The Blyth Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholarships are offered annually to Canadian high school graduates who wish to take their undergraduate degree at Cambridge University in England. The successful candidates will be granted admission to the College of their choice at Cambridge University, full tuition for three years of undergraduate study, travel costs and a full living allowance.

 

The awards are also open to current Canadian undergraduates wishing to pursue an undergraduate degree at Cambridge University.

 

The scholarships are awarded to students who for financial reasons would not otherwise be able to attend the University. Students who do have financial means are still encouraged to apply to the University and College of their choice and good candidates will be invited to interview in Toronto in late November/early December.

Scholarship Selection Process

All applicants will receive notification of the receipt of their application to the University on or before October 15th. Successful candidate(s) will be offered the opportunity of interview in Toronto in late November/early December. Scholarships will be awarded after the interview process. The scholars will begin their study in Cambridge the following October. The decision of the Blyth Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholarship Selection Committee will be final and not subject to appeal.

Course of Study

Acceptance into any undergraduate degree, other than Medicine or Veterinary Studies, is accessible to the scholarship recipients.

Eligibility

• Canadian citizen or permanent resident (landed immigrant).
• Full-time student in their graduating year at an accredited Canadian secondary school or in their graduating year of an undergraduate degree at an accredited Canadian university.
• Candidates must have shown academic excellence, intellectual depth, personal integrity and success beyond their studies. These key requirements should be reflected in their grades and letters of recommendation.

Note :

CEGEP students are eligible for the scholarship.

International Baccalaureate (IB) students, Advanced Placements (AP) students or students who have national success in competitions or university level courses are at an advantage in the competition.
CEGEP students who are made conditional offers to study at the University of Cambridge are normally asked to take AP tests or IB Higher Levels in relevant subjects as part of their offer. Please note that the Blyth Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholarship Program will be pleased to offer the AP courses free of charge to any outstanding candidates.
